Afferdances, in my personal cognition, it represents the central idea (i.e. key words) of all design. No matter what kind of design or the carrier of the design, its purpose is to better convey the information. If we lose afferdances, no matter how creative and beautiful, it will become a failed design, especially in the interaction.
Afferdances represents the ability to intuitively make the design convenient for the audience. More intuitively, the audience can have some inspiration for the use of the product when they see the designed product. Although it sometimes makes use of what human beings have learned from other experiences, like a round bottle cap, people can think of how to open it when they see it.
On the other hand, however, afferdances does not require that the design can command the behavior of the audience, but provides a possibility for the audience and provides guidance from an objective point of view.
Just like the iPad provides. First of all, its size is similar to that of a book, which implies that it can be used as an e-book and provides reading function. Secondly, it is a display screen, which provides the function of approaching TV and watching dynamic video. In addition, the screen owned by iPad is touchable and can give timely feedback, which indirectly guides users to actively interact, and the painting function is essential. Note taking is also included. In addition, it can connect to the Internet, that is, the basic functions that can be realized by the computer can be developed and tried through iPad, such as social functions such as video dialogue or conference. You can even use it as a musical instrument, such as the piano. All the functions that can be realized by human finger interaction can be tried.
