ABOUT ME CONNCET

Project-05

360APP

Background

Imagine you are applying for a six month internship with a leading design studio. Applications for this position will be numerous and highly competitive, so the studio have decided to base selection on a design competition. To enter the competition you must design a smartphone app for an appliance or other machine in common usage amongst international students in the UK.

Context

I’m developing a prototype model of a smartphone app, the purpose of which is to interact with the library’s self-checkout machine to help international students borrow and return books more efficiently and conveniently, this video shows me Created high-fidelity versions with clickable prototypes.

Problem statement

Whether borrowing or returning a book, the user needs to wait for the machine to be ready for use, and wait for the person who comes first to use it up. And users also need to consider whether they remember to bring their student ID cards and whether they can find the books they need.

Test & Design System Language

After testing, I modified and iterated on existing programs, after which I started making high-fidelity interfaces, putting tests together with the design system language for space reasons.

Summary

This project comprehensively analyzes that international students come to the UK to study hard, hoping to gain more knowledge and abilities, but they are not suitable for the use of self-service book lending machines, and it is too difficult to retrieve English books, and international students cannot fully understand and clearly distinguish books. The pain point, the mobile phone scanning recognition technology is applied to borrowing and returning books, and it helps international students to quickly locate professional books in the library, aiming to create an efficient and time-saving learning method. Also, I only used Adobe XD with Adobe AI for this project – everything from my wireframes and prototypes to creating illustrations and icons. While I was able to do my full design in AI and XD, it was useful to have a working knowledge of all the standard tools in the industry. In the future, I want to be able to explore the details that are closer to the real situation of users, from the point of view that is difficult to notice in daily life, but will have a continuous impact on users, and combine with science and technology to improve the user experience more rationally and comprehensively.
