Dr. Bill Varplant’s method of describing interaction design makes it easy for people to understand. From this video, his way of sketching on-site made me understand how he defined interaction design from broad and narrow concepts, and made it clear to me.
Below are some of my sketch notes.

The following are some of my thoughts and gains after watching the video.
I realize that visualization is a way to express our interactive thinking, not the purpose. Interaction requires a lot of thinking and communication. Interaction design strives to create and establish meaningful relationships between people and products and services, centering on “embedded information technology in a material world full of social complexity”. The goal of interactive system design can be analyzed from the two levels of “usability” and “user experience”, focusing on people-oriented user needs. Remember that interaction design is a user-centered design. All aspects of life are related to interaction. Simple lights all switches are interactive design, which requires our attention.
When using websites, software, consumer products, and various services (actually interacting with them), the feeling during use is an interactive experience. With the development of networks and new technologies, there are more and more new products and interactive methods, and people are paying more and more attention to the interactive experience. When the large computer was first developed, it was possible that the original user was an expert in the industry, and no one paid attention to the user’s feeling; on the contrary, everything was organized around the needs of the machine, and the programmer used punched cards to input Machine language, the output is also machine language. At that time, the focus of interaction with the computer was the machine itself. When the users of computer systems are more and more composed of the general public, the attention to interactive experience is becoming more and more urgent.
From the user’s point of view, interaction design is a technology that makes products easy to use, effective and pleasing. It is dedicated to understanding target users and their expectations, understanding users’ behaviors when interacting with products, and understanding “people “Its own psychological and behavioral characteristics, at the same time, it also includes understanding various effective interaction methods, and enhancing and expanding them. Interaction design also involves multiple disciplines and communication with people from multiple fields and backgrounds.
